Who doesn’t love a good PIZZA!

pizza

One of my favorite things to do when the weather is great is cooking outside but after weeks of BBQ and hamburgers, I wanted to switch things up. It was time to fire up my pizza oven.

If you want to try and make your own dough you need just a few simple ingredients and patience. Instant yeast, bread flour, water, oil, salt, and sugar

  • 3 ½ cups bread flour
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 ½ teaspoons yeast or 1 packet (instant yeast)
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 ½ cup warm water (barely warm)
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

*****For a more savory pizza add ¼ teaspoon garlic powder and ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning

  Directions:

  • Whisk the yeast and warm water until you see foam
  • Add the sugar and whisk to dissolved
  • Pour into mixing bowl set up with a dough hook
  • Add the flour and slowly mix
  • When semi-mixed add salt
  • Add oil mix slow, then fast, then slow for 6 to 8 min until dough is a ball and soft

Take out of bowl and with your hands, tuck dough under itself three times. Place seam down in oil sprayed bowl and cover with plastic wrap and set in an oven where there is barely any warmth for 1 hour.

Punch and roll onto a barely floured counter again and cut into in four and form balls again and place on a flat dish, cover and place back in oven again for an hour.

Shape into pizza top with some Saucy pizza sauce below and whatever toppings you love enjoy!

Now on to the sauce! Every pizza has to have the right sauce, the sauce is what brings the pizza to life!! Ok you can argue that the toppings make the pizza but if you don't have the right sauce then ehhh the pizza is just a pizza.

Here is what you will need:

1 28oz canned whole Italian style tomatoes
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp Italian seasoning
2 tbsp purée garlic
1 tsp salt/pepper
2 tbsp Passionfruit habanero saucy

Placed the ingredients in a blender and pout on your pizza its that simple!

Preheat your oven to 475 - (if using a pizza stone allow it to preheat in the oven as well) Lightly grease a baking sheet or pizza pan with nonstick spray or olive oil. Sprinkle lightly with cornmeal*, which give the crust and extra crunch and flavor. (if you have on hand its highly recommended )

***You can freeze the dough after the 2nd rise. Take out a few hours before you make the pizza to thaw out***
